Whenever I photograph weddings in Montreal, there is almost always a group of guests who came from other parts of Canada or from around the world. In the case of Naomi and James, that was one of the most incredible features of their marriage. Friends and family came from Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, England, Netherlands, Australia, Singapore, and Mauritius, that is, besides being an occasion to celebrate love, it was also a unique opportunity of being with people they rarely see and can be together.

The place chosen for the wedding was the Elm Ridge Country Club and the day was perfect so they could hold the ceremony outside (which is not always possible in Montreal). Since the time Marie-Christine and I arrived, we could already feel that it would be a day of great happiness and especially, of special reunions. The ceremony, which was celebrated by someone very close to the two of them, was a beautiful mix of emotions: tears, many laughs, all very natural and true, reflecting 100% of their personality.

At the reception, the newlyweds were greeted with a lot of partying. Between each dinner service, several exciting speeches and love-filled hugs. One of the highlights of the evening was when three friends of the couple presented them playing and singing a compilation of love songs, including a song for Naomi and James’ first dance as husband and wife.

Before the party started, the couple gave a speech full of gratitude and appreciation to all who helped them planning and organizing the wedding and also, expressing how they were happy to have been able to gather so many special people.

Working with Naomi and James since our very first skype meeting was an amazing experience. Couples like them help to remind me of the reason why I love so much what I do and I am so glad our paths have crossed!
